MOVIE: Valentine’s Odd Couples + Gosling Double

Lovers, haters, odd couples, romantics, rebels – there’s something for everyone this Valentine’s season with The Nomad Cinema, a roaming pop-up cinema that gives 100% of profits to The Sustainability Institute, in South Africa.

We love movies and this looks great – a good cause and cool settings too.

The Valentine’s series at The LookOut, Hyde Park with the Royal Parks Foundation begins on Friday 13 February with an ‘odd couples’ duo of screenings, starting with the brilliant Harold and Maude, in which young Harold is obsessed with death and spends his leisure time attending funerals, watching demolitions, visiting junkyards, simulating dramatic suicides, and foiling his mother’s attempts to find him a suitable wife. His life is changed forever when he meets rebel soul and lively septuagenarian Maude at a funeral.

This must-see is then followed by a career defining performance from Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate – Mike Nichols’ landmark 1960’s hit, with youth rebellion seeping into the California upper middle-class.

On Saturday 14 February The Nomad goes all out with a Ryan Gosling double bill, satisfying both the romantics with The Notebook, and the more action-hungry with Drive.

Tickets to all four screenings at The LookOut include a glass of bubbles on arrival and a hot meal courtesy of Madame Gautier. With roaring outdoor fire pits to toast your marshmallows over, and the beautiful surroundings of the wooden lodge of The LookOut, this is the perfect place for a romantic date or a great night at the flicks with friends.
