Gaucho Smithfield and the Meantime Brewery announce a Mini Beer Festival in the City which kicks off from Monday 2 September until Saturday 7th September.
Guests will be treated to the latest in the world of crafted cocktails – ‘beer-tails’ and if you’re up for the challenge, you can learn how to make your own. A beer and beef food matching master class is also available for bookings, which will be hosted by Brew Master, Rod Jones. The finale of the beer festival will be a unique five course beer inspired menu priced at £75 per person on Saturday 7th September.
The beer inspired menu will include a mini chocolate beer and steak pie and an Argentinian rump steak marinated with wheat beer, smoked garlic served with spinach, rounded off with roasted sweet potatoes.
For our tasting:
We were served a flight of beers to bring the best out of the Argentinian meats starting with a chocolate porter with 12 malts, that tastes of roast coffee and mocha. Followed by a Meantime Yakima Red with American hops that tastes as bright and fresh as it looks. A raspberry wheat beer with a flourish of raspberry puree with a light cider feel. And then bringing the meat connection a stout ale in the glass and baked into the tiny canape pies.
In quite a radical departure Gaucho’s chief cocktail maker, Amol, has created three stunning beer cocktails – a caramel mojito, a beer Pimms with sloe gin, summer fruits and raspberry beer and surprisingly, a beer espresso martini.
A fantastic take on classic cocktails that are true in taste but so light and refreshing.
This festival makes for a very interesting evening in a great steak restaurant where it’s been the norm to match the medium rares with a bloody red. With the tie in with Meantime Beers this is a game changer for Gaucho Smithfield.
