Going Nuts

Two new products out on the market – flavoured peanut butters from The Wild Peanut and an aphrodiasic nut paste from Morocco.

The Wild Peanut has launched a range of naturally flavoured peanut butters at Yumbles.com, hot on the heels of founder Akeem Ojuko’s appearance on BBC Dragons’ Den.

While foodpreneur Akeem wasn’t able to persuade the Dragons to part with their cash, you can buy the chilli, cinnamon, honey, chocolate and banana flavours with a 40g taster jar at £1.50 or a 450g jar at £4.20 with free shipping with a donation to charity TREEAID for every jar sold.

If you’re looking to add an exotic twist to your nutty snacks, then Alassala’s Amlou Paste is the Berber tribes’ answer to nut butter.  Also known as Argan Spread or Argan Almond Butter, the prestigious paste has long been used as an integral part of Moroccan pastry making. It’s a popular gift for newly weds.

Amlou Paste

Winner of a Gold Star at the Great Taste Awards 2013, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, the paste is pure and natural with no added honey or sugars. Made with ground, semi roasted almonds and organic argan oil, the ethical paste is a great source of Vitamin E and essential fatty acids, as well as having anti-inflammatory properties and the ability to help lower cholesterol.

Alassala Amlou Paste is available in two sizes: 226 grams RRP £14.99 and 113 grams RRP £7.99 stocked at The Hale Clinic’s Nutri Centre, online on www.nutricentre.com and Janna Organics as well as at other independent Health Stores and Speciality Food Stores. You can also buy Alassala’s products online at www.alassala.co.uk.
