Kinetico. It’s not a beauty brand you’ve heard of before – but it delivers smooth skin & soft, silky hair everyday.
We know, we’ve tried it, and in a glamorous setting, natch. Had a hard day? Looking forward to unwinding in the bath? Yes, but first you gotta clean that scum…
None of that here at London’s five-star Savoy Hotel.
We are here to indulge in a spot of ‘soft’ water therapy – beauty pumped throughout the hotel from the water in the taps to the steam in the spa.
As part of the multi million pound Savoy Hotel restoration project, water softening equipment from Kinetico was installed in the incoming mains in the basement. Plumbing was ripped out and bathrooms were moved from the outside to the back of bedrooms to open up the view…
Adding new rooms and suites in the refit, coupled with the Savoy’s location in a hard water area, meant they needed more water softening – plus had to make sure their loos kept their luxurious ‘sparkle.’
Alongwith the world’s first twin-tank, demand operated, non-electric water softener from Kinetico, other green initiatives such as reclaiming the heat from all kitchen appliances to preheat domestic hot water have helped reduce the hotel’s reliance on the national grid by approximately 50 per cent. Even cooking oil from the hotel restaurants is recycled and turned into biodiesel.
But nothing greasy for us here at the hotel’s luxurious spa.
So wrapped in a towelling robe and funky black slippers it was time to dive in – literally. This article was nearly titled ‘Washed Away’ – the jet stream in the 10 metre pool is fast enough to shoot you down the Orinoco.
Never mind that the water feels very bouncy, anyway. No wrinkly fingers here.
After some splashing around in the pool it was time for the relaxation bit.
Purify & de-stress men’s facial 60 minutes £80
We tried the detoxifying facial cleanse using Osmium’s purifying ginger and turmeric cleanser and bentonite clay mask with exfoliating walnut. The treatment includes a soothing shoulders, neck, scalp and facial massage. Deeply relaxing – sorry to therapist Charlotte for the snoring! And then pumped back onto the streets of London but refreshed with smoother skin & soft, silky hair.
The Savoy Spa is for hotel guests, members and spa clients.
