Greg Rutherford puts the Bupa Brisk Walk through its paces. The Olympian and experts from Bupa have designed the fun walk to tackle apathy to taking a stroll – a report from Bupa revealed Brits are more likely to get in a car than Americans to travel short journeys they could have otherwise walked.
The Bupa “Get Walking, Keep Walking” report reveals that walking briskly for just an extra 15 minutes a day can extend life expectancy by up to three years, help keep weight in check and reduce the risk of stroke, heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Yet the report shows a declining trend for walking journeys globally, with people citing barriers to walking including a lack of time as well as boredom.
Olympic Champion Long Jumper Greg Rutherford commented: “Who said walking has to be dull? I’ve never had so much fun simply getting out for a walk. I’m hoping learning a routine such as this is just the motivation the nation needs to ditch the car and literally get back on its feet. So wherever you’re going today, I urge you to have a go.”
