HTC let us loose on their brand new HTC One X and this is what we thought:
It’s super light at 130 grams with battery and a sleek 7.8mm, a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 resolution) screen, beautiful architectural design with an elegantly formed back. The lens has some optical brighteners which make the colours look great and it’s a best-in-class performer in low light conditions (much better than the iPhone). While filming video you can also take single shots.
HTC are using the phones on their Arizona Free Fall Fashion Shootadvertising commercial where the plan is to capture a fashion model skydiving out a plane and uploading the shot before reaching the ground. Some feat when there’s the challenge of actually pulling the parachute and landing safely.
The back of the phone feels smooth because it’s undergone micro arc oxidation where the aluminium is bathed in a plasma field covering it in microscopic lightning bolts that are hotter than the surface of the sun. It’s not a coating but transforms the surface into a ceramic in ultra matte black or white.
The digital camera is dead, when technology like this keeps coming along. It’s a 8-megapixel camera. Plus the Nvidia quad-core processor will result in better graphics, faster performing apps and longer battery life. It also has the ability to wirelessly share content from the phone onto a TV or music streamed in your car. It’s all about seamless – in the design and the way it’s used.
HTC has a partnership with Dropbox cloud storage to give One users 25gb of storage for two years, equivalent to 10,000 high quality photos.
Here’s a first look at the HTC One
It’s a quad-core super phone. The large screen and powerful processor make it perfect for gaming, watching videos and surfing the net. The high-end HTC One X is the new flagship Android phone and HTC’s mid-market HTC One S will be positioned as “superfast and super durable” or ‘Beauty and brains’, while the HTC One Vwill cater to the lower-end of the market as ‘The essential smartphone.’
It also boasts new advanced camera technology in the form of HTC ImageSense which allows the user to produce amazing photography in the most difficult conditions such as the world first skydiving fashion shoot! Automatic smile recognition – the lens sees the smile first and snaps it. No waiting around for cheesy grins.
The perfect shot
Brand new ImageSense technology, with an eight megapixel camera and F/2.0 lens, that captures more light, make the photography capabilities of the HTC One X just as good as a compact digital camera. it also has an in-built lowlight capture capabilities making the phone perfect to take pictures in a dark gig venue. Image sends allows the HTC 1X to replace an everyday camera and adapter diverse and difficult shooting conditions, enabling high-quality photographic creativity with every shot. Faster than the blink of an eye in just 0.7 seconds you’re able to take a shot with the new superfast 0.2 seconds autofocus and even firer continue shooting, mode to make your images standout from the crowd.
This is what HTC are saying –
Did we mention it’s powerful?
What does a 1.5Ghz quad-core chipset with four high-performance CPU cores give you? Powerful multi-tasking. Enjoy smooth, quick-to-respond game, web and video downloads.
A camera so good, you might need a reminder that it’s also a phone
This is a true digital camera on your phone. It easily handles low light settings and turns action shots into crisp photos, thanks to the HTC ImageChip. Always Focus and Continuous Shooting means you won’t ever miss a shot again. You can even snap a picture while shooting HD video.
Music, the way it was originally recorded
With Beats Audio, listening is different. It’s a deep, finely detailed sound; the actual sound the artist hears in the recording studio–and what they want you to hear.
A big screen for a great show
You’ll get amazing clarity, vivid detail and enhanced color range. And with just one swipe, movies go wirelessly from your phone to a wide-screen TV.
Designed with you in mind
Your sophisticated taste deserves a sophisticated design. So the screen is rounded for smooth edges and the thin case is sleek and stylish—yet sturdy as ever.
We are converted and will be using the HTC One as soon as it’s available – April 2012.
Update: we were invited to Arizona to see the filming of the commercial here’s our behind-the-scenes look.
