“East Meets West: Journey Through Music“ a collaborative concert of an Indonesian and a British choir presenting works from both countries and others.
Batavia Madrigal Singers (BMS) is an award-winning vocal ensemble from Indonesia directed by Avip Priatna. Some of its notable winning awards include winner of the free program category and award for best interpretation of French composition at “Florilège Vocal de Tours”, France; Winner of five awards including Grand Champion, best interpretation and best conductor at “57th International Contest of Habaneras and Polyphony” in Torrevieja, Spain (2011); and Grand Champion of “International May Choir Competition Prof. Georgi Dimitrov”, Varna, Bulgaria (2012). Aside of its appearances in competitions, BMS had performed in music festivals and concerts in many countries, including Hungary, Germany, Austria, France, USA, Japan, Singapore, and more.
Coro was formed in September 2000 as a London-based chamber choir for experienced singers dedicated to performing a broad range of choral music to the highest standard. Directed by Mark Griffiths, Coro has undertaken a number of UK and international tours and has successfully participated in many European choral competitions. Some of their achievements include Grand Prix winners at the Tallinn International Choral Competition; Renaissance Music Prize and the Twentieth Century Music Prize at the 54th International Polyphonic Competition “Guido d’Arezzo” in Italy; and grand finalist and special Renaissance Prize winner at the Florilège Vocal de Tours. Coro performs three concerts a year and also takes on other projects. They have released three CD recordings entitled “The Lover’s Ghost”,“This Christmas Night” and “O Jesu Mi Dulcissime”
