New Musical: JACKIE!!! at Edinburgh Fringe

JACKIE!!! tells the glamorous and scandalous life story of the legendary Jacqueline Kennedy.

Produced by Blair Russell Productions (Pop Off, Michelangelo!; DIVA: Live From Hell!; Lizard Boy), this wildly irreverent and sharp-witted show takes a no-holds-barred look at the darker side of the Kennedy dynasty.

Life at the White House will never be seen the same as JACKIE!!! unleashes an underworld of power, manipulation and family drama. Fast-paced, sharp and utterly unafraid to tackle uncomfortable truths, this show blends biting satire, punchy musical numbers and a healthy dose of absurdity to explore one of America’s most iconic yet troubled families.

After marrying into the Kennedy family, Jacqueline quickly discovers that fame, fortune and political power come with a heavy cost, questioning if being on top of the American throne is worth the family curse that seems to hang over it.

This new show draws parallels between the Kennedys’ infamous exploits and the current climate of wealth-driven politics.

Collaboratively developed by Joe McNeice (DIVA: Live From Hell!, Kings Head Theatre, Underbelly Cowgate; Pop Off, Michelangelo!, Underbelly Boulevard), Max Alexander-Taylor (A-Typical Rainbow, Cable Street and The Lion, Southwark Playhouse) and Nancy Edwards (Am I Pretty When I Cry?, The Hope Theatre), this talented team brings a fresh, dynamic twist to a narrative of manipulation, legacy and political ambition.

Jackie was, in many ways, the original influencer. She walked so today’s influencers could run – except she did it wearing pillbox hats and with actual class. But the deeper we researched, the more we realised the Kennedy family wasn’t just America’s royal family. It was a messy, power-hungry, scandal-ridden dynasty that makes today’s political circus look almost quaint. Suddenly, it wasn’t just about glamour; it was about ambition, corruption, and the twisted mythology of American greatness — so now, it’s dark, it’s comedic, and it’s definitely not the musical we first imagined.
