The Photographer’s Gallery is always worth a visit, but this exhibition blew my mind. It shows the work of the late, great photographer Letizia Battaglia, who chronicled the effect the Mafia had on Sicily. Her photos were supposed to document and report incidents for newspaper articles, but their composition and general view on the subjects is so artful and iconic, that they transcend their humble beginnings and transform our view on and of the world.

Breathtaking and thought provoking – simply stunning!

Outlaws: Fashion Renegades of 80s London

This was my first visit to the Fashion and Textile Museum and it made me wonder what I might have missed before. The current exhibition is fun, exuberant, thought provoking and has so much on display, that you can spend a lot of time in the venue. The outfits are perfect examples of the fashion the club scene of London in the 80s nurtured and made so popular, that the style travelled and conquered the world. Photos and soundbites of contemporaries complement and complete the presentation and make this exhibition a well-rounded affair.

Fragile Beauty at V&A

This exhibition was curated very well, dividing it into different sections of his vast collection and it did a great job in putting their eclectic taste into context. Absolutely fabulous and I felt very lucky, that I came in the nick of time, to visit it  – closed 05.01.2025.

London Art Galleries to Visit

Please walk the streets of London and visit the many art galleries which are all over the city. It might be a bit intimidating, to enter those posh buildings with doormen, but it is well worth going through the doors of Halcyon Gallery, Maddox Gallery, HOFA Gallery and many more. I found the art dealers to be very welcoming, even if you don’t look like you have £20,000 to spare for a painting. You can have a quiet look around and they will be very willing to answer all your questions. They show (modern) classics, but also new artists, that might become your favourite in the future.

One to avoid:

NAOMI – in fashion” exhibition. To me a total waste of time. Yes, she is beautiful and so are the clothes, she has worn and see everything on display. But what else is there to say? Not much, listening to the adulation of her friends, who beatify the supermodel with meaningless soundbites.
