This Great Gatsby at the London Coliseum is spect This Great Gatsby at the London Coliseum is spectacular, spectacular.

The glamour on the stage in inverse proportion to the the schlumply-dressed audience.

Is it the best musical, or inciteful retelling of this, the American Dream fable? Not by a long shot, old sport. Style over substance, flashy not fleshy.

Saw it in New York, was not impressed by a stand-in Daisy but seeing again makes me think there's something in the score for her role, not the performer.

Some fantastic belters especially Myrtle's heartbreaking 11 o'clock 'One-Way Road' and throughout catchy Gatsby's 'For Her' and Daisy's 'For Better or Worse'. Cast do a great job with the material. Sets, oh my!, costumes just wow.

Would love to take up golf if only to play with the immaculate JB and her silky pajamas.

Jaw dropping production, every detail precise, sat close enough to see that Gatsby was wearing an Hermes watch of the period.

This show goes roaring on - it's one hundred years since the 1925 F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, and still unnerving in its prescience...

Do go and gawp.

Had high hopes for this but sadly missed the mark Had high hopes for this but sadly missed the mark theatrically.

Real life testimony was done well by the actors but my ears are still bleeding from the noise. Please turn it down!

Giving the actors something to do all the time is exhausting to watch - especially distracting when they're doing mimed gym class as someone is recounting contemplating suicide.

This is such an important story of a dark period in UK, and I am glad to see it on stage in such a prestigious setting at The Royal Court.

The subject of the musical - Section 28 is Government Legislation which prohibited local authorities from "intentionally promoting homosexuality" and from "promoting the teaching in any maintained school of the acceptability of homosexuality as a pretended family relationship."

Read that again - pretended family relationship!

It fostered a shameful environment of silence, fear, and prejudice, making it incredibly difficult for LGBTQ+ people to feel seen, understood, or supported.

Section 28 was eventually repealed in Scotland in 2000 and in England and Wales in 2003.
