Hot on the heels of the lovely Yealle Caplan at Dukes Hotel, news reaches us that another British fashion talent Teatum Jones are to create ‘The Dorchester‘, a printed silk scarf inspired by the iconic luxury London hotel, launching at London Fashion Week (LFW) Spring Summer 2013 and sold exclusively at Liberty.
Catherine Teatum and Rob Jones studied at Ravensbourne College of Design and Central Saint Martins respectively. They have a strong fashion foundation having worked with Luella Bartley, Warren Noronha and John Richmond before setting up Teatum Jones, they’ve also been name-checked on 2012 Hot Lists in UK magazines Vogue, Elle, Stella and The Observer.
Liberty womenswear buyer Stephanie Jones commented, “It was love at first sight during fashion week when I wrote an exclusive order for Teatum Jones. I predict something beautiful and luxurious, forward thinking, layered with hidden narrative and utterly charming.”
Catherine Teatum, says: “Our design has drawn inspiration from the graphic nature of the metalwork on the balconies, the duality between the bold architecture and the elegant interior, the strength, character and regeneration of the hotel over the decades, juxtaposed with black and white photographs of the staff from the hotel’s early years. We merged bold graphic lines with softer elements inspired by colours from within the hotel’s most famous suite into a liquid romantic fantasy.”
‘The Dorchester’ scarf designed by Teatum Jones, measures 136cm by 136cm, is made of 100% pure silk double georgette, and is available to purchase exclusively from Liberty on Regent Street, and from shop.thedorchester.com priced at £245 from Tuesday 18 September 2012.
Afternoon tea sittings for the Teatum Jones Fashion Tea at The Dorchester on Tuesday 18 September take place at 2.15pm and at 4.45pm, and are priced at £52 per adult including a glass of Champagne. (Prices are inclusive of VAT and exclusive of service charge at 12.5%).
