Le Diner en Blanc

Le Diner en Blanc

Imported from Paris and now taking root in 20 cities across 5 continents in 2012, the mass of secret picnickers come together for a “chic picnique” in a public space.  Launched in 1988 by François Pasquier with a handful of friends – so many wanted to come that he asked them to convene at the Bois de Boulogne and to dress in white, so they could find each other.  Paris’ Dîner en Blanc now assembles nearly 15,000 people each year.   For its U.S. debut last year, more than 30,000 New Yorkers signed up for a coveted spot on the 1000-person guest list and the chance to attend a magical dinner party at Battery Park.

Over the course of the evening, the diners will celebrate and dine amid live music and dancing. When it is time to leave, guests will pack their crystal, dinnerware and tables, gather all their debris and head into the night, with no sign of their elegant revelry left behind. Just a beautiful memory.

It’ll be all white on the night.
