Authentic Cuban Mojito with Havana Club

Mojito is the nation’s favourite cocktail, the ice is melting in a diplomatic thaw and Sunday 16th August is International Rum Day.

So it’s perfect time to celebrate rum.

The mojito was first created in Cuba and the authentic Cuban way is nothing fancy or complicated, just fresh ingredients and simple methods with Havana Club 3 Anos.

Simply put – mix, muddle and mix!

Step 1 – squeeze the juice of half a fresh lime into a glass & add two teaspoons of white sugar. Stir with a spoon or swirl the glass around until the sugar is dissolved.

Step 2 – tap two whole fresh mint sprigs on the back of your hand to release the fragrant aromas. Fold the mint & place in your glass. Gently muddle the mint a few times with the end of a wooden spoon.

Step 3 – fill the glass with ice. Use your Havana Club bottle cap to pour four caps of rum over the ice, then top up with sparkling water.

The London Mojito Map marks all the bars that Havana Club have ‘certified’. An accolade that acknowledges those bars that Havana Club feel make the best, most authentic Mojitos, like they do back in Cuba.

Happy International Rum Day!
