Barking for Oh My Dog at the reinvented Buddha-Bar London

Buddha-Bar London

Buddha-Bar London

This autumn, Buddha-Bar London will be bringing oriental flair to London’s dining scene with its menu of Pan Asian dishes, music and striking interiors. “Buddha-Bar is universal, each destination unique in its own right,’ says co-founder Tarja Visan. ”With our brand new London restaurant, we have ensured the concept is flexible to the British lifestyle, yet still attractive to the restaurant’s eclectic audience.”

Chinese, Japanese, Thai and other Eastern flavours are entwined to spearhead a new-wave Pacific Rim cuisine. Buddha-Bar London will have its own dishes such as Venison Tataki, Smoked Duck and Foie Gras Gyoza, Dragon Scallop and pan-fried Seabass with Shiso Butter. As well as signature dishes, the Buddha-Bar Chicken Salad, Seared Sesame Tuna, Wok Fried Beef, Spicy Tuna Tartar and Five Spiced Barbeque Chicken and extensive selection of Sashimi, Nigiri, Sushi Maki Rolls, Temaki, and Tempura dishes.

Ex-Dorchester Hotel – China Tang – Pastry Chef has created a dessert menu of Ginger Lime Cheese Cake with Pineapple Salsa, Chocolate Sesame Bars with Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream, and Mango Pearls with Coconut Cream.

We are promised avant-garde cocktails such as Heart of Darkness, a blend of red grapes, cognac and red port and ‘thought provoking‘ wines. Guests will be barking orders for the Oh My Dog!!! – a velvety concoction or rose syrup, Pama liqueur and white pepper infused Gin.

Set over two floors, Buddha-Bar London’s interiors exude a fusion of colonial, baroque and East meets West style that appeals to the fashion conscious. Buddha-Bar London plays on all senses with live DJs who play a mixture of electro-style rhythms and ethnic and tribal sounds.

Sculptor, David Begbie has designed the maquette of the Buddha sculpture titled ‘TRANSPOSE‘, created from a single sheet of bronze mesh, as well as the wall-mounted piece called ‘TRANSCEND‘, made of 207 brass Buddha figures.

Crystal Chinese dragons hang elaborately from the ground floor ceiling luring guests down into its lair. Let’s hope Buddha Bar doesn’t get burned again by a fiery tongue-lashing from the critics but this time it’s not a franchise. So no Downward-Facing Dog this time, hopefully.
