BBC Children in Need POP Goes the Musical 2012 is working with the best of West End Theatre and a star-studded line up. This unique charity project is giving celebrities from the music sphere the chance to perform a hit song with a top show on select dates throughout September, October and November to help raise vital funds for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.
The show-stopping celebrities involved in these series of unique curtain calls are:
18th September 2012 – Les Misérables – Alexandra Burke
Alexandra Burke performed a unique collaboration with cast members from the West End show Les Misérables for BBC Children in Need POP Goes the Musical.

Following the curtain call, X Factor winner Alexandra Burke gave a rendition of Eponine’s ‘On My Own’ – she wasn’t though, with her mum, brothers and auntie in the audience there to give her a standing ovation.

Alexandra said: “That was amazing! I’m so excited to be part of BBC Children In Need this year. I was absolutely blown away by Les Misérables when I saw the show and to join the cast of one of the West End’s most famous musicals was a real honour.”

11th October 2012 – Jersey Boys – BLUE

Following the curtain call, Blue took to the stage and belted out ‘Who Loves You’ by the Four Seasons.
Gossip includes:
- Simon had his cast off his leg for the very first time and was able to bust some moves
- Blue tucked into everyone’s favourite well known peri-peri chicken before performance
- The Blue boys wowed everyone by coming up from the stage lift to a chorus of screaming girls
- All the boys had hair slicked back with ‘cement’ gel
25th October 2012 – Singin’ in the Rain – Geri Halliwell
Geri Halliwell splashed on stage to perform Singin’ in the Rain and dance routine with leading man and former Royal Ballet principal dancer Adam Cooper for BBC Children in Need POP Goes the Musical!
Gossip includes:
- Geri didn’t mind one bit her hair getting wet
- Geri’s mum and sister came along to show their support
- The Director from Viva Forever turned up to support Geri at her rehearsal
- Geri’s fans turned out in force and she tweeted afterwards to thank them
- Geri sipped on mugs of green tea throughout her rehearsals

15th November 2012 – Thriller Live – Macy Gray, Stooshe and Joe McElderry
Tickets are available exclusively at www.lastminute.com/pudsey and cost £80. Each ticket includes: Top price seat, signed programme, a Pudsey bear, drink plus access to a VIP after-show reception hosted by Pudsey with the chance of an appearance from the stars of the show.
BBC Children in Need POP Goes the Musical, the charity is thrilled to announce the addition of singer and songwriter Joe McElderry to its celebrity line-up. The X Factor winner will take to the stage to put his own spin on the Michael Jackson classic ’She’s Out of my Life’ in Thriller Live.
Joe says: “I am so excited to be performing in such an acclaimed West End musical, celebrating the King of Pop – Michael Jackson! To be able to sing my own version of ‘She’s Out of My Life’ is such an honour and even more so to be involved in BBC Children in Need. I can’t wait!”
Buying a ticket is a fun way to support the charity as 50% of the price of each ticket will go to the children and young people supported by BBC Children in Need.
