Bird of Smithfield

Bird of Smithfield

Chef Alan Bird

Set within an old Georgian town house and operating over 5 floors in a prime location; Bird of Smithfield is the long-awaited venture by Chef Alan Bird. With over 15 years heading the kitchen at arguably London’s most iconic restaurant The Ivy and as a former Group Executive Chef at the International Soho House Group, Bird has received widespread recognition from both peers and trade.

The restaurant’s menu will be modern British cuisine such as calves liver, the first British caviar and salted caramel choc pot; with dishes aiming to explore the influence British food has had both historically and presently. Moments away from Farringdon, Bird of Smithfield is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Bird of Smithfield has a beautiful classically styled dining room featuring Holland & Sherry tweed and herringbone fabrics, a bar with a cosy lounge feel, a basement cocktail bar, a private dining room with a chef’s table and a roof terrace overlooking the towers of the old market.

The intimate basement bar, known as The Birdcage; will also host live music on selected nights. London-based bar consultancy Fluid Movement (Purl, Worship St Whistling Shop and Dach & Sons) will oversee the cocktail menu.

Offering guests a home from home as soon as they enter the building, Bird of Smithfield’s classic structure will be brightened with colour schemes influenced by the 1960’s Hermes palette. Full of art and antiques; Bird of Smithfield will feature mid-20th Century furniture carefully selected by Bird’s business partner Steve Collins who opened events space Temple Guiting in the Cotswolds with Sophie Conran.  Bird and Collins will operate the restaurant alongside Georgia Muir and Sian Austin, both whom previously worked with Notting Hill Restaurateur Tom Conran.

Bird of Smithfield offers the fragrance of a members club with no membership required.
