Platter – Food ‘Twitter’ launches in London

Anyone following us on Instagram knows we are obsessed by food.

So it comes as a nice surprise to find out we are not alone.

Platter, based in London, uses food photography to help ordinary cooks share great ideas – and show off, no doubt.

According to research from 360i, 52% of people use their mobiles to take photos, with 19% posting them on the internet. Guilty as charged!

Platter gets those food photos in one place, encouraging more cooks to share ideas than ever before – a food version of Twitter.

The food app distinguishes itself from generic photo networks like Instagram by tagging ingredients. These tags let users find ideas for particular foods.

And if you tag what’s in your cupboard, Platter brings you a live feed of suggestions – hilarious, we can’t wait to see what it comes up with out of shinesquad’s eclectic cupboard.

Because Platter connects to Facebook and Twitter, these suggestions can come from people you already know, hmm, can we trust them, though?

As if to answer our questions,

“There’s no snobbery on Platter” says Will Hodson, the app’s co-founder.

“Our favourite recent uploads include ‘fish finger katsu curry’, ‘haggis bon bons’ and ‘the Elvis tribute sandwich’

Platter releases on 22nd March and is available on iPhone and Android.

So what’s in your cupboard?
