The Tsukanov Family Foundation and Saatchi Gallery present Post Pop: East Meets West, the first comprehensive exhibition examining why Pop Art, of all the twentieth century’s movements has had such a powerful influence over artists from world regions that had or still have very different and sometimes opposing ideologies.
We were lucky to get invited to the preview party by UPFRONT, the market leader in celebrity booking for over 15 years, who delivered tonnes of famous faces.
We ended up playing paparazzi with a Samsung smartphone as you can see from the snaps below. It was quite a turnout – especially the rising stars of Tuppence Middleton, Georgia King and Jeff and Matt Postlethwaite, Noelle Reno and Scot Young, Billie JD Porter, Katie Readman of What Katie Saw, Marama Corlett, Genevieve Gaunt, Pippa Bennett-Warner, twitterers Katherine Ryan and Joe Lycett, Alistair Guy and Kick Ass actress Sophie Wu.
We also spotted lots of other famous faces such as Bianca Jagger, the Bond Actor and cool dude Rick Yune, the hilarious Anthony Daniels who starred in seven Star Wars films and did his Russian version of the force be with you, rock hero Tony Banks of Genesis, interior designers Broosk Saib, Linda Barker and actress and presenter Denise Welch.
The exhibition brings together 256 works by 112 renowned artists from America, China, the Former Soviet Union and the UK in the largest survey to date exploring Pop Art’s enduring legacy. Post Pop: East Meets West will celebrate the art being produced in these four distinct regions since the heyday of Pop, and will present them in relation to each other through the framework of six themes: Habitat; Advertising and Consumerism; Celebrity and Mass Media; Art History; Religion and Ideology; Sex and the Body.
