St Martin-in-the-Fields will host a celebration of light like no other with Space – a five-day immersive and colourful light and sound experience running from Tuesday 17th February – Saturday 21st February 2026.
Iconic London church St Martin-In-The-Fields’ beautiful exterior will be illuminated with sound and light to create an extraordinary multi-sensory experience that lasts around 30-60 minutes, followed by a luminous 15-minute final seated sequence.
The show begins outside in the Courtyard where visitors can have drinks in the outdoor café and bar. The colourful and immersive light experience then continues, illuminating the whole interior of the Church to bespoke music. A dazzling journey across the universe, exploring the cosmos which displays the first rocket launch, the creation story and the Big Bang amidst an atmospheric soundscape. Lastly, visitors can see Earth as if looking back from space under a galaxy of stars.
Also, for one night only, immerse yourself in a Silent Disco. On Wednesday, 18th of February Luxmuralis will transform the space with a spellbinding constellation of ever-looping stars. In this unique experience, DJs will spin across three separate channels on your wireless headphones, offering everything from classics to today’s chart-toppers. The crypt comes alive in an entirely new way – stars shifting, flowing, and orbiting around you as you dance, wrapped in light.
Space is produced by artist and renowned sculptor Peter Walker, Artistic Director at Luxmuralis. His work reflects a broad and innovative approach to storytelling through art. Credited for creating ‘the stained-glass windows of our time’, he brings stories to life through an understanding of art and historical context of such institutions to paint the architecture with light, bringing together the contemporary and the ancient.
David Harper is the composer and sound artist and has been commissioned to create a new series of audio and sound works in the project which will form the public art soundscapes for a new City of Sculpture project.
