Nice atmosphere touches for this classic kids show Nice atmosphere touches for this classic kids show Alice in Wonderland at Marylebone Theatre. Had my Merlin app on and bagged a couple of birds. Faithful to the full text and spirit of Lewis Carroll. Fun "Queen" and clearly spoken Alice from central casting - set looks great, costumes splendid and effective puppetry. Would not like to have been at that Tea Party though, absolute nutters... kids getting restless about 45 mins into a 60 min show. A few up to date references for the grown ups. Quite a clever summer panto...

Here are a few pics in London with @rodneybirrell for our anniversary dinner (11 years, but who's counting?!) and a sunny, relaxing break in Cyprus.
What an utter joy to have this show back again ('t What an utter joy to have this show back again ('the closest thing to heaven') -  The Girl From The North Country play by Conor McPherson and songs by Bob Dylan at The Old Vic until 23 August 2025.

Bob Dylan re-orchestrated and sung with devastating emotional depth.

It's a must see on any list of great musical theatre of this century - even if you dont like musicals... think of it as a play with folk & rock songs.

English Heritage Blue Plaque for Gateways, a fable English Heritage Blue Plaque for Gateways, a fabled 'meeting place for lesbians'.

From the 1930s to when club finally closed its doors on 23 September 1985 it was a haven for bohemians, musicians, writers and artists. During the Second World War, the club was taken over by a new proprietor who actively welcomed lesbian members and was women-only from 1967.

But more than that... recounts Amy Lame (@amylame), Maggie Hambling (@maggihamblingholdingthings), Lucie Warrington (@lulukink) filmmaker of the documentary Gateways Grind and 
DJ Ritu MBE(@DJRitu), Hero Johnson and Margaret Hyde and Adrian Ware - grandson of the owners of the club.
