Drizzle on umbrellas, crumpled leaves on the floor, ivy-clad tree trunks blown inside and warming coffee. No, not summer in London, this was the set specially created for the first Ted Baker AW 12 collection for a select audience of their high performing teams, directors and designers for Ted’s Team Day and us.
The theme was Survival of the Fittest with country pursuit tweeds and check with flashes of bright, exotic animal prints. Just as the feathers for fishing have been mostly dyed a variety of yellow, green, red and orange so the collection took on these hues with mustards and gold-soled high heel shoes, red feather sleeveless jackets, leopard print shirts and bright clutch bags. For the boys it was skinny jackets, diamante brooches, patterned woollen scarves, hunting jackets and moustache motif accessories.
The girls have taken over suits – with their own pretty moustaches proving that anything Ted Baker can do for the boys he can do it better for the girls. Red is still a big colour – you knew you were at a Ted show by the guys in the front row wearing red jeans and neon brogues – including the man thought to be Ted Baker himself.
A photo is worth a hundred words so here’s some shots we took at the show:
Brollies were bright, florals or even intergalactic.
Mustards, bright yellows and golds (on the sole of the shoes)
Girls wore pink moustaches.
Think Dynasty’s Alexis for the sleeveless feather jackets and The Help for the shrug fake furs and fuller skirts.
The feather bolero jacket (on the right) caught the light and shimmered.
This one’s quite a look.
Some sultry outfits for winter parties – bronze cropped trousers, a smoking jacket and bow tie for the lady.
Skirt turning feathers and waist boucle or embellished bodice statements.
Tonnes of detail and beautiful glossy fabric.
Here’s Shinesquad at the show…there was a great atmosphere and it’s definitely going to be a wild season with Ted Baker.
