The Atlantic World Art Fair

The Atlantic World Art Fair taking place online from June 1 – 21, 2021, presents nine exhibitors and the talents of over 60 contemporary visual artists in the Caribbean, the Atlantic Islands and the region’s wider diasporas.

Founded and curated by Lisa Howie, a Bermudian cultural entrepreneur, and hosted in partnership with Artsy, the global online marketplace and art brokerage, the Atlantic World Art Fair expects to reach four million art collectors.

Artists in the Atlantic World Art Fair are nationals of, or reside in, Aruba, Azores, The Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Curaçao, Dominica, Dominican Republic, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Maarten, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, US Virgin Islands, and their diasporas.

The fair presents an exciting new art market that everyone with internet can access and is there to support those who might be buying art for the first time.

Collectors will have an opportunity to purchase over 250 top-tier selections of paintings, prints, photographs, textiles and sculpture, with prices ranging from $800 to $20,000. Information about artists, editorial commentary, and a parallel online program (such as art talks, panel discussions and studio visits) will be available to help develop cultural understanding and an appreciation for the region. Payments are made to the exhibitor directly and the buyer will assume the shipping and handling costs of the artwork.

In 2019 Lisa Howie  launched Black Pony Gallery on the Artsy platform, featuring contemporary artists from the Atlantic World. Concurrently, she is the Director of Learning & Engagement at the National Museum of Bermuda and Board Director with the Centennial Bermuda Foundation. Ms. Howie is the former Executive Director (2009-2017) and Director of Education & Programming (2006-2009) of Bermuda National Gallery.
