From the West End to the Water’s Edge: Why Tattu’s New Canary Wharf Flagship is London’s Next Big Dining Pivot

If you’ve spent any time tracking London’s premium experiential dining scene, you already know that Tattu doesn’t just open restaurants—they build entire visual universes. Having frequented Tattu consistently since its spectacular initial launch, I’ve watched the brand evolve into an absolute powerhouse of modern hospitality. Most recently, I sat down for an incredible lunch hosted by the team at their vibrant West End outpost (Tattu Soho at The Outernet). From the presentation to the service, everything remains strictly en pointe. But their newest move might be their most architectural yet. The brand-new Tattu Canary Wharf is preparing to make landfall directly on the water’s edge at 5 Water Street, bringing a dramatic change of scenery from the bustling central city to the sleek waterways of Wood Wharf.

In Safe Hands: A New Chapter for Brand Leadership

Behind every great venue is an exceptional team, and a huge part of what makes the Tattu experience so seamless is the talent driving it forward. On my recent visit, it was wonderful to connect with team members like Sam and Beth, whose ambition ensures the business remains in spectacular hands. It is also an incredibly exciting time for the group’s leadership. The brilliant Martyna Sargunaite has officially been promoted to Sales Manager – London at Permanently Unique Group. As Martyna recently shared regarding her expanded portfolio:
“An exciting next chapter, taking on a wider role across three of London’s most unique venues – TATTU Soho, FENIX Mayfair and our newest addition, TATTU Canary Wharf! I’ll be focusing on driving sales, growing our corporate and events business, developing new partnerships and creating exciting opportunities across all three venues.”

With a proven track record as a Business Affiliate of Les Clefs d’Or, Martyna’s sharp eye for luxury hospitality means the signature high-energy flair we love in the West End will translate perfectly to growing the corporate and events footprint at the new dockside flagship.

The Precedent: A Long History of Culinary Artistry

To understand why this upcoming waterfront location is such a massive deal, you only have to look at what they’ve achieved so far. Walking into a Tattu space feels like stepping into a modern sanctuary, but it’s the consistency of the kitchen that keeps people coming back. Over the years, one of my absolute personal highlights has been their incredible Sunday Imperial Roast. It completely redefines the traditional British Sunday with a theatrical, high-end Asian twist—featuring aromatic roast duck, Chinese BBQ chicken, and char siu pork served alongside ingenious “fusion trimmings” like five-spice salt & pepper roast potatoes. On my most recent weekday visit, the menu perfectly balanced those familiar high-concept textures. Two sharing plates captured the kitchen’s creative energy flawlessly:
    • The Spicy Koi Fish: Visually stunning, delicate cuts of spicy tuna, truffle aioli, and caviar over crisp sea-shell crackers. It’s as vibrant to look at as it is rewarding to eat.
    • The Kung Po Tofu: A masterclass in texture. Combining pineapple, green beans, and lotus root, it offers a beautifully glassy, satisfying crunch that completely redefines how exciting tofu can be.
Pair all of that with one of their famous Cherry Blossom Negronis, and you have a benchmark for what modern Chinese dining in the capital should look like.

First Look: The Floating Palace of Wood Wharf

While Tattu Soho looks inward to create an immersive, digital-meets-nature sanctuary, the new Canary Wharf venue is interacting directly with its external environment. The physical structure itself is taking shape right on the docklands. Stepping away from traditional enclosed dining rooms, the exterior of the new site features extensive glass walls and a stunning, wrap-around overwater terrace. It is explicitly designed to mimic the historic floating restaurants of China, letting the natural reflections of the water do the visual storytelling.

According to design previews released by the group, the 13,200 sq ft interior steps away from the iconic cherry blossoms of the West End to embrace a grand maritime mythology theme centered around the “Dragon Kings of the Four Seas”. Studio WYZE has masterfully mapped out the massive space into four distinct colour-coded sensory realms:
    • The Grand Hall (The White Dragon): The stunning, double-height primary dining arena. This space departs from the brand’s traditionally dark palettes, instead utilising light timber, rich purple lacquer, and a magnificent, glowing onyx sushi counter.
    • The Cocktail Bar (The Red Dragon): A vibrant, high-energy drinks sanctuary defined by dramatic, sculpted dragon-scale arches and deeply textured crimson wall-coverings.
    • The Mezzanine (The Black Dragon): Situated directly above the bar, this intimate upper level transitions into an ultra-moody dining zone anchored by ebony woods and brushed gold tones.
    • The Private Dining Room (The Azure Dragon): An exclusive space for premium bookings, featuring an extraordinary undulating ceiling crafted to mimic moving water and overlapping dragon scales.

A Rising Tide: Elevating Wood Wharf’s Cultural Quarter

What makes this opening particularly brilliant is how beautifully it fits into Canary Wharf’s rapidly evolving lifestyle ecosystem. The neighbourhood has spent the last few years aggressively pivoting from a sterile corporate financial hub into a luxury weekend destination—and Tattu is landing right at the heart of this cultural quarter. Its immediate neighbour down the dock is the state-of-the-art Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre (11 Water Street), currently hosting the massive, world-premiere production of The Hunger Games: On Stage. By framing Wood Wharf not just as individual stops, but as a cohesive, high-end cultural and culinary district, these flagship venues are collectively cementing E14 as London’s premier destination for weekend luxury. Tattu Canary Wharf officially launches this November. Whether you are heading down for a high-powered business lunch, an elegant Sunday waterfront feast, or a late-night cocktail to toast a great night out on the wharf—this is bound to be the city’s most spectacular new anchor.
