This February, the dazzling colours, pounding beats, and sultry warmth of the Rio Carnival will come to Covent Garden’s Guanabara
Bar, Restaurant and Club for six days of non-stop festivity.
Kicking off on Thursday 7th February 2013, Guanabara will host a variety of events, from live percussion bands and samba dance parades to huge carnival masked parties and DJs playing sounds straight from Rio.
The eight year old, 600 capacity venue with its circular stage and dance floor, has been refurbished and its concept refreshed.
Guanabara makes and sells the most Caipirinhas in the world this side of the Atlantic and with the best rum cocktails and ice cold Brahmas in town, will be the place for carnival in London.
Chef Pietro Rocha will create a special menu of carnival favourites, such as Corn dogs and the famous feijoada, a black bean, sausage and beef stew.
So get your sequins out, your Samba heels on and lumber up for your capoeira moves.
The week’s festivities include;
The Carnival Parade on Friday 8th Feb, featuring the Taste Of Brazil Dance Show and the Bal De Masque – a masked ball on the Saturday 9th Feb where revellers can really get into the party spirit, wear their finest headdresses and cover themselves in glitter and body paint.
The week’s biggest bash, the Domingueira Carnival Special, will be a late night party on the Sunday evening featuring the best live bands from Brazil.
As well as samba classes, Sunday 10th February will feature the trendy Forro style.
