Fine Art on Sails sponsored by CNM Estates
Ahoy landlubbers, Shinesquad’s production team were out on choppy Thames waters to film ‘Fine Art on Sail’.
The project has commissioned several famous British artists to create signature artworks onto sails from the British Olympic Yachting Team.
This is a first-of-its-kind collaboration between the yachting and art industries, paying homage to the original spirit of the Olympics when art, alongside sport, was featured as a central competitive arena.
CNM ESTATES, in partnership with CLPROJECTS, are launching a series of fine art and yachting events celebrating the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics’ spirit of unified competition across borders.

Property entrepreneur Michael Ross is behind the project and was sailing the maiden voyage on the Star class ‘number two boat’ of Team GB skippered by John Gimson, training partner of Olympic medallists Iain Percy and Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson, and a strong contender for Team GB in Brazil 2016.
The first ‘Fine Art on Sails’ is by Eley Kishimoto, who’s “Camo Chevron” was chosen to go on the Team GB sail. The sail, now adorned with the fine art, carries the identification number “8371” which is the number used at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and World Title winning races at the Championships in Rio. A gold star on the sail indicates that it is from a World Championship winning team.
Eley Kishimoto is famous for their wallpapers, furniture, furnishing fabrics, glassware and crockery.
After a 12-month world tour each of the 4 sails will be donated or auctioned to charity.
Next stop on the global voyage is to Art Basel in Miami and the America’s Cup. Here’s some work Shinesquad’s done for America’s Cup.

and this from the Daily Mail online with the next artist revealed as Ben Eine and his work See No Evil. Eine’s sail will raise money for the Royal Yacht Association’s ‘Sailability’, which helps the disabled to sail.
Other artists will include INSA, Jaime Gili and MEAR One.
The Fine Art on Sails project was launched at a champagne reception on 10th September at the May Fair Hotel, London in the presence of Team GB Olympians, the artists, charity bosses and corporate sponsors.
Four of the sail canvasses were displayed in the atrium ceiling of the May Fair Hotel and a sail-shaped canvas was painted live by artist Mear One.
