Love Supreme Jazz Festival at Glynde Place 5, 6 and 7 July

Melody_Gardot,_Esperanza_Spalding_And_Brand_New_Heavies_Confirmed_For_Love_Supreme_Jazz_FestivalFurther additions to the line-up of the first ever Love Supreme Jazz Festival taking place on 5, 6 and 7 July 2013 at Glynde Place in East Sussex.

Melody Gardot, Esperanza Spalding, Brand New Heavies and The Soul Rebels will join a stellar bill already including Bryan Ferry And The Bryan Ferry Orchestra, Jools Holland and His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, Michael Kiwanuka, Courtney Pine, Gregory Porter, Marcus Miller, Branford Marsalis Quartet, Soweto Kinch, Neil Cowley Trio and Naturally 7.

Melody Gardot headlines the Jazz stage on Sunday 7 July. Her breakthrough album, My One And Only Thrill, received three Grammy Award nominations, and has sold over one million copies worldwide. Her current recording, The Absence, has received similar acclaim.

Esperanza Spalding made a massive impact as the first jazz artist to win a coveted Grammy Award for best New Artist in 2011 – a triumph over the pop-might of Justin Bieber. Singer, songwriter, bassist and dramatic performer, her album Chamber Music Society was the best-selling contemporary jazz album in the same year. Her Love Supreme festival set will feature the infectiously grooving big band swing and funk that lies at the heart of her current album, Radio Music Society.

Pioneers of the Acid Jazz genre of the late eighties, Brand New Heavies have scored a dozen UK hit singles, including Never Stop, Dream On Dreamer and Apparently Nothing. Current single Sunlight sees them reunite with US vocalist N’Dea Davenport.

The Soul Rebels infuse the New Orleans brass band tradition with the irresistible force of soul and hiphop. These massive crowd-pleasers have shared stages with Metallica and Kanye West as well as all the great figures of their home city.

New British female talent will be celebrated throughout the Love Supreme Jazz Festival weekend, as the hottest contemporary acts descend on Glynde Place this July. With current radio favourite Josephine, pianist and singer Gwyneth Herbert and Lucinda Belle Orchestra’s harpist and vocalist joining Brighton-based singer-songwriter Andreya Triana and MOBO-nominated vocalist Zara McFarlane, these performances are set to be remembered for years to come.

Further additions to Love Supreme Jazz Festival include the formidable instrumental noise-rock trio Three Trapped Tigers, Kairos 4Tet, the group led by Adam Waldmann who won the MOBO award for Best Jazz Act in 2011, and exciting pianist and singer Matthew Lee, who has been wowing audiences across continental Europe with his soulful voice and virtuoso solos.
