New Opening: Central & Co Brasserie and Bar in Soho

Central and CoCentral & Co, a contemporary Brasserie & Bar is a great find in the heart of the West End. The brasserie is on the ground floor with an intimate bar below. Central & Co will be celebrating great British-sourced produce. The suppliers include Taste Tradition, a North Yorkshire farming family specialising in rare and traditional breeds, Helsett Farm in Cornwall will supply dairy produce from their herd of pedigree Ayrshire cows.

The head chef is Mark Beardshall from Yorkshire who has extensive knowledge and a real passion for British food, he is very excited about the dishes that will be on the menu at the Brasserie. Small plates will be a feature on the menu, allowing a chance to sample some of Britain’s finest in-season produce.

The focus of the Brasserie’s bar is encapsulated by the bespoke, brassed refrigerated wine wall behind the bar which has been designed to showcase the diverse and unique styles of sparkling wines from across the world, from the finest English and classic French to the unusual Japanese. The list also includes a selection of ten sparkling cocktails that compliment each of the ten sparkling wines that are served by the glass.

“We will pay a lot of attention to our customers and be personable. The service will not be rushed but will be efficient and knowledgable both for the content of the menus and also the local area.” Richard Weaver, General Manager. We’ve been and can say Tess and the staff are lovely.

The design of the venue has been created by 44th Hill working in conjunction with I Love Dust. There are brass chandeliers, marble tables and vintage wall lights as well as polished concrete walls and floors and vast mirrored walls. The ground floor consists of a bar at the far end, drawing the eye through the restaurant via ceiling high brass fridges and art deco lighting. “The venue décor boasts a classic and contemporary style with vintage and art deco pieces serving its location extremely well.” Stuart Taylor, 44th Hill.

Central & Co is part of the Urban Leisure Group, one of London’s leading bar operators. The owners are Hezi Yechiel and Dan Kattan who have been operating bars Café Libre, Graphic, The Alice House’s, The Gallery and The Adelaide with another bar planned.

The Brasserie will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as the chance to enjoy something sweet in the afternoon when Central & Co will serve afternoon tea. There’s a liquor bar downstairs for the late-nighters.

It’s on the site of the former 22 Below bar. As we are just around the corner we’re looking forward to a new kid on the block.

We went in for a coffee and pastries – and weren’t disappointed.
