Union Street Café is a new restaurant and bar that will open in September 2013 on the corner of Union Street in Southwark. Home to a relaxed dining experience, Union Street Café will be an urban warehouse destination offering quality Mediterranean-influenced food with a daily changing menu. Union Street Café will specialise in serving fresh, seasonal produce from local suppliers including nearby Borough Market as well as directly sourced artisan ingredients from Italy and across the Mediterranean.
The restaurant will take inspiration from East-end London, was originally thought to be backed by David Beckham, however he has withdrawn from the project. It retains many of its original warehouse features and keeping a raw, urban look with original shutters, columns and windows. With designs from Russell Sage, the space has been created with inspiration from the local area, with the use of leather and steel and a nod to the Mediterranean feel of the restaurant with eclectic vintage Italian seating. The downstairs bar, accessed by the main staircase in the restaurant, will be a relaxed space serving classic Italian as well as innovative new cocktails with a London influence.
It’s in Harling House at the corner of Great Suffolk Street and Union Street.
The restaurant and bar is opening Monday 16 September and bookings open at 12pm on Wednesday 28 August.
