It was bit soggy but the crowds were out shopping and bopping on London’s Oxford Street and Regent Street for the capital’s biggest retail day of the year. Both roads were closed to traffic to allow VIPs – ‘very important pedestrians’ to enjoy a safe and cleaner day in London’s West End shopping district.
Pop band McFly kicked off Christmas at the American Express Shop West End VIP Day with a performance at Oxford Circus with three hit songs in support of this year’s charity partner, Make-A-Wish Foundation UK
Famous faces, including TOWIE’s James ‘Arg’ Argent, TV presenter Jeff Brazier and Dragon’s Den Duncan Banantyne, stepped behind the counter of some stores to serve customers to raise money for Make-A-Wish-Foundation. Support for McFly came in the shape of the TOWIE star belting out Frank Sinatra’s (Mc)Fly Me to the Moon before introducing the band to waiting crowds. Shop keepers such as John Lewis and Selfridges will also be over the moon with over £100 million rung up on the tills on pre-Christmas ‘Super Saturday’. Top selling gifts this year are tablets, cashmere and slippers.
A great cause. Make A Wish Foundation UK.
