Malay Taste’s Family Recipes and Meal Kits

We like the look of these – unleash the exotic with Malay Taste’s authentic new product range of a fusion of flavours unique to Malaysian cuisine.

In Malaysia, rather than having separate starters and main courses, all of the dishes are served at once and shared by all. A typical Malay meal will have a mix of spicy and milder dishes and would generally consist of a curry, meat or seafood dish, vegetable dish, salad and soup, all accompanied with plenty of rice and a selection of hot sambals and pickles. Exotic fresh fruits perfectly complete any meal..

The new Kicap Manis is a syrupy soy sauce which adds a sweet and savoury flavour to any dish. An essential ingredient in Malaysian cuisine, the sauce comes in a 150ml bottle and can be used as a condiment, seasoning or marinade for a variety of dishes including chicken, steak and fish. For those who like a bit more spice, Sambal Oelek is a chilli-based sauce, perfect for a fiery kick. Just add a  spoonful to stir fries and marinades, or serve on the side as a condiment.

If time isn’t on your side, don’t forget Malay Taste’s authentic meal kits. The Nasi Goreng Kit (£ 2.69) contains Nasi Goreng paste, cooked rice and dried vegetables and creates a tempting fried rice dish, flavoured with onion, chilli and garlic, within minutes. Alternatively experiment by adding prawns, chicken or vegetables to the Laksa Kit  (£2.69) for a speedy, mouth-watering dish. Containing Laksa paste, coconut milk and rice noodles, the kit provides the base for a spicy coconut noodle soup infused with citrus.

For a rice-based option add the Nyonya Kapitan Curry Paste to chicken and coconut milk for a traditional spicy Nyonya chicken curry.
