Not a one size fits all approach – like the pouches you get from supermarkets that say ‘suitable for all machines.’

Founder of Your Grind Stephen Rapoport is passionate about coffee, pressure bars and just fine enough espresso grinds. It’s not Stephen’s first business success. The self-confessed web-geek was a co-founder of online marketplace for short stay rentals, Crashpadder.com which was acquired by Airbnb in March 2012. He says of this few-month-old company that it ‘is the best smelling business I’ve ever worked on.’ Stephen has been hanging out at East End hipster concept space and coffee experience at Protein 18 Hewett St run by coffee creatives DunneFrankowski working on getting the business up and running.

The coffee I tried was coarse grind Guatemalan Single Origin for cafetière with an intoxicating aroma, delicate creamy taste with melon top notes. The clean taste reminds me of the green hills, fresh air and fast, cool water in the hills around the house of an old lady I stayed with in Antigua, Guatemala. There, coffee is made in a saucepan with freshly boiled water bubbling on a stove, drunk black and eaten with beans and tortillas. I reckon every pouch will take you to a place, a memory or a discovery. It’s been a while since something so exciting has been posted through my letterbox in a plain (resealable) brown envelope.
