Background Bars popular rooftop pop-up at Dalston Roof Park has reopened, and this year they have gone tea-total. The imaginative pop-up bar and events company have taken inspiration from the venue’s edible garden using its fruit, vegetables and herbs to mix cocktails with a variety of teas such as Oolong, green tea, Earl Grey and English breakfast.
The menu features just 5 killer cocktails with prices starting at £6.50.
Dalston’s Old Sage
A clean blend of Beefeater gin, lichee green tea, fresh sage and lime
Background Garden
A light, fruit laden cocktail with Beefeater, blueberry Ceylon tea, fresh strawberry, cucumber, mint and lemonade
Rum-a-Mile
Mellow out with Havana rum, Cointreau, chamomile tea, fresh watermelon, agave and lime
Nectar Hive
A rich mix of Beefeater gin, Oolong tea, apricot, lemon and honey served up punch style
Up Top
A frothy number with Martell Cognac, Oolong tea, peach, honey, pineapple and lemon
The bar will also offer a range of lager and beer from local breweries and cold-pressed cider merchants. Up-and-coming street food vendors will feed the crowds, expect to see The Wing Men’s apple smoked chicken wings, Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen and Franks Franks.
There will also be free weekly film screenings on Tuesday evenings with a line-up of music documentaries, classic films and brand new blockbusters.

Not content with popping up at Dalston Roof Park and FEAST, Background Bars have announced another summer residency, and this time they are heading to Shoreditch’s Red Market.
Kicking off on Thursday 20th June, the free entry street food market will take place every Thursday & Friday from 5pm till 11.30 pm for the next eight weeks. Background Bars will on hand serving up an imaginative drink concept which includes three summer cocktails, pink prosecco, organic wines, craft beer and cider.
Cocktails (£7.50)
– Havana 3YO, Ting, Lychee and Lime
– Beefeater Gin, Lemon, Sugar, Prosecco and Strawberries
– Appleton VX, Orange, Ginger and summer spice
As well as some of London’s best street food vendors, curated by Buger Bear Tom, the Red Market will offer undercover seating, hammocks, table service and a table reservation policy which means no queuing (T&C apply).
Looks like Shoreditch is where to be this summer!
