Introducing X.B. the luxury pre-mixed Sex On The Beach cocktail. Launched in May 2012 by wealthy entrepreneur Javed Fiyaz at the Cannes Film Festival, X.B. has made its mark in Europe as a ‘cocktail’ club drink.
Sex on the Beach is known the world over and has been a club staple since the mid 1980’s. Consistency between bartenders and clubs has always meant that ‘satisfaction’ can’t be guaranteed. Sometimes it’s vodka with peach schnapps, orange juice, and cranberry juice or vodka with Chambord, Midori melon liqueur, pineapple and cranberry juice. Depends on where you hang out, even TGIF has a version. We’ve got Ted Pizio in Ft. Lauderdale to thank for the original concoction. The pre-mixed X.B recipe still has a fruity twist with orange, cranberry, peach and grape – blended with smooth triple distilled grain vodka to create the same taste every time.
The brand story is that ‘whilst lying on the beach with Belle in St.Tropez last year… People-watching, sea-gazing, dreaming, sunbathing, checking out the yachts, soaking up the sounds, having fun…Cocktails… The usual please. We ordered Sex on the Beach cocktails from the bar…which left the taste of bitter disappointment! There was no Sex. There was no Beach. …And then it hit me. I looked at Belle – effortlessly chic in a red striped 50’s bikini under her blue parasol… And I had a light bulb moment. I’d create a drink in her honour “Un Hommage à ma Belle“.
The brand has international ambitions and is being launched in Spain, Belgium, Sweden, the US and now, the UK.
The X.B. bottle design draws on the heritage and glamour of the French Riviera, immersing itself in beach and yacht life while taking inspiration from the pin-ups of the 50’s – this imagery feeds into the ethos of the brand with everything from the shape of the bottle to the nautical stripes label and blue parasol.
The drink has made a huge splash in VIP clubs Gotha in Cannes and L’Arc Paris with celebrity association from Akon in Marbella, Ne Yo, and LMFAO at the VIP Room in Saint-Tropez. X.B is now making its London debut. Following a successful sponsorship of the pop-up Maddox Beach Club in East London during the Olympics, X.B are now planning to take the West End by storm.Notable events include US hip-hop star Nas taking to the stage at Jalouse, near Shinesquad’s office in central London on Hanover Square and the upcoming multi Grammy Award-nominated Busta Rhymes set at DSTRKT, London.
Price: At 12.5% alcohol volume X.B is available in 250 ml cans as well as 750 ml for £27, 1.75 L and 3 L bottles – simply serve over ice.
